How to remove the Network Tallahassee Accelerator software

The dial-up accelerator service is no longer available as of March 19, 2008.
For alternative options, see the following:

Windows Vista

  1. Click the Start button then Control Panel.
  2. If Control Panel Home is selected on the left, click Uninstall program beneath the Programs heading.
    If Classic View is selected on the left, double-click Programs and Features.
  3. Select Network Tallahassee Accelerator and click Uninstall/Change above the list of programs.
  4. See the Proxy server settings section below.

Windows XP, 2000, Me, 98, 95

  1. Click on Start (then Settings if it exists) then Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Select Network Tallahassee Accelerator and click Remove.
  4. See the Proxy server settings section below.

Proxy server settings

Sometimes the removal of the accelerator software may leave proxy server settings in Internet Explorer and/or Firefox and will prevent you from displaying web pages. If this occurs, follow these steps:

Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer as if you are going to surf the web.
  2. Click the Tools menu then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Connections tab.
  4. Double-click your dial-up profile (often called NetTally) to get into its settings.
  5. In the Proxy server section, make sure Use a proxy server for this connection is NOT checked.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK.

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox as if you are going to surf the web.
  2. Click on the Tools menu then click Options.
  3. Click on the Advanced icon.
  4. Click on the Network tab.
  5. Click on the Settings button next to Configurehow Firefox connects to the internet.
  6. Select Direct connection to the Internet.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Click OK.
