Configuring YAM v2.x

Marcel Beck has put together a fantastic freeware email program for the Amiga called YAM - Yet Another Mailer. You can get more information from the YAM Official Support website.

Minimum requirements for v2.x are:

  • 68020-based Amiga computer with 4MB RAM
    (68000-based systems should use v1.3.5 instead)
  • PowerPC-based WarpOS Amiga with 4MB RAM
  • AmigaOS v3.0 minimum, v3.1/3.5 recommended
  • Magic User Interface v3.8 or better

Customize these instructions for the following email address:

  1. Download and extract the YAM v2.x archive. Open the installation drawer and run the approriate installation script. During installtion select the CPU you'll be using for this program.
  2. Main YAM2 window
    This is YAM's main window. Select configure from the drop-down menu, select the Configure button (not visible here,) or press Left-Amiga K.
    Please keep in mind that this only covers basic configuration necessary to use Network Tallahassee. See the YAM AmigaGuide documentation for information on the many customizable features available.

  3. First Steps
    Real Name: (your name or company name)
    Email address: yourlogin@nettally.com
    POP3 server: pop3.nettally.com
    Password: (your password -- this is CaSe SeNsItIvE)
    Use the selector to choose your timezone so your emails are properly time-stamped.

  4. TCP/IP
    In this window you can configure YAM2 to receive email from multiple servers.
    User ID: (your login -- normally the part before the @ symbol in your email address)
    SMTP Server: smtp.nettally.com (if you connect to the internet through us)
    Click Save.
